That’s so silly!” Today he got in trouble for putting the stopper in their sink and almost flooding the bathroom. When he’s learning about something he thinks is cool he is a well behaved little sponge. The article I read said to watch how they act when engaged in something they’re interested in. I’m a teacher and I’m on their side, but I sometimes feel he’s bored. He’s always in trouble at school for not listening. I was researching about gifted kids and how they can often be misdiagnosed and often get in trouble at school. He doesn’t really display any of the indicators for autism IMO. ![]() She said she thinks that’s why he’s as smart as he is. She mentioned high functioning autism because he’s so rigid with his schedule (I know that term is outdated, but that’s what she said). I’m asking because my 3 year old son (turned 3 in Feb) is relatively smart (knows uppercase letters, knows a few rhyming words, can only count to 18 but can identify 2 and 3 objects by sight, can tell me how many fingers I’m holding up, knows a lot of random facts, observant, sharp memory, good problem solving, great vocab with big words, likes books sometimes if he’s in the mood, etc) but I still think falls into the category of typical overall.ĭaycare teacher said he seems advanced in all categories except socially is self centered and struggles with same age peers.
